Obituary

Maxmillian Joseph “Max” Slominski, 83, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in the early morning of September 15, 2026.

Max was born on January 9, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Moxcy and Sophie (Zielenski) Slominski. Raised in a devout Catholic family, he graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hudson, New York, in 1961, and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Yvonne N. Snyder.

As the son of a baker, Max grew up working in his father’s shop after school—a dedication that sparked a lifelong passion. He later took over the family business, Jersey Baking Company, and spent forty years pouring his heart into his craft until a severe heart attack in 1998 led to his retirement.

In 2000, Max and Yvonne retired to Bluffton, where they enjoyed cooking, baking, walking the beach, and taking long drives through the Lowcountry. In his later years, Max deeply cherished the time spent with his grandchildren who lived nearby.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne N. Slominski; his brothers, Leo and John; and his sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his children, Stephanie, Ashlee, Jaimey, and Aimee; his sister, Jackie; his brother, Joseph; and his cherished grandchildren.

At Max’s request, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a local food pantry.
